Bruce Springsteen, E Street Band, European tour, Nowlan Park, Kilkenny,
Bruce Springsteen and the E Street Band will end his European tour with concerts in Nowlan Park, Kilkenny, it was announced this morning.
Details of the last two dates of the Wrecking Ball tour for July 27th and 28th, were announced by organiser Aiken Promotions.Each concert would have a 20,000 capacity.
Springsteen’s visit will be the highlight of the three-day Wrecking Ball Weekender summer festival in Kilkenny from July 27th to 29th. Other performers will include Glen Hansard and Damien Dempsey Imelda May and LAPD.
The Mayor of Kilkenny, Cllr Sean O hAragain told The Irish Times that it would be a huge boost for Kilkenny this summer.
"It would be huge for Kilkenny if Springsteen comes - we’ve already had Bob Dylan and Paul Simon here and as a huge Springsteen fan, I would be absolutely delighted and for one weekend, Brian Cody can stand aside and Bruce can be the Boss in town," he said.
Peter Aiken said Springsteen was “a guy who gives everything” live and was “unique”.
Almost 100,000 tickets have already been sold for three concerts by Springsteen at Thomond Park in Limerick on July 16th, Pairc Ui Chaoimh in Cork on July 18th and Kings Hall in Belfast on July 20th as part of the European leg of his Wrecking Ball Tour. They are all sold out.
His last European date of the tour will be in Cardiff on July 23th, which may give him scope to play another Irish concert, with Friday, July 26th, being mooted as a possible date or Saturday, July 27th. The plans may involve two concerts, each with a 20,000 capacity.
Tickets will go on sale Thursday February 7th at 9.00am
